Texas Animal Shelter Battles Tick Infestation

A Texas animal shelter has a really, really bad infestation. How bad? Imagine finding more that 600 ticks on one dog.

After getting her dog back from the Aransas County Animal Shelter, a woman has pulled off hundreds of ticks that are sucking her dog’s blood.

The only option Smyer has available to her is to use a residual insect killer on Tasha which will kill the ticks but she has so many that it’s going to take a long time.

For now, Tasha will be staying at the Aransas Pass Shelter in an environment where she won’t be eaten alive by these critters.

The remaining 12 dogs at the shelter will be relocated until the tick problem is under control. The shelter will pay for the dog’s vet bills because of the tick infestation.
