A dog in Oregon is the first to be sickened by the recent salmonella outbreak that has affected scores of products that contain peanuts.

Levi, a 3-year-old dog from Southern Oregon, got sick after eating Happy Tails multi-flavored dog biscuits. Tests done on the biscuits confirmed that they contained salmonella.

The Happy Tails biscuits, which are sold at stores such as Albertsons, have been recalled because they contained ingredients that came from the Peanut Corp. plant in Georgia, which has become Ground Zero for the salmonella outbreak and has sparked recalls all across the country since September.

Levi is currently at home with his family in Oregon, and is expected to recover fully.

Symptoms of salmonella infection in pets include bloody diarrhea and vomiting.
