So, you finally made the decision to buy health insurance for your dog–how about life insurance?
Dog owners in Thailand can have their dogs insured for up to 100,000 baht (about $3,000) with a Pedigree certificate or a maximum of 10,000 baht (about $300) without a Pedigree certificate.
Typically, a verterinarian pays a visit to the dog owner’s house and checks the health of the dog, and then implants a microchip before issuing the life insurance policy. Owners are also observed with their dogs to see how they interact and take care of them.
To prevent people from killing a dog for insurance money, dog owners must bring their animal to a veterinarian to verify the cause of death.

As the owner of two dogs, I can see why it’s necessary to buy health insurance for your pets–vet bills can get really expensive! But as far as pet life insurance goes…hmm, don’t think I’m quite ready for that one yet.
I just hate to imagine how many cases there would be of people getting the insurance and killing their dogs and trying to make it look like an accident to collect the money. That could be a potential disaster.
