Yesterday marked the four-year anniversary of the day we brought Pom Pom home from the shelter. Since we don’t know Pom’s real birthday, we have marked this day as the day we celebrate her turning one year older!
We celebrated her 11th birthday by baking her (and all of the kids) turkey cupcakes–a recipe we found in our doggie cookbook. Some ground turkey, celery bits, and a few other ingredients from the grocery store mashed together and baked in tiny muffin molds created the cutest little meaty cupcakes…and all healthy!
We had the option of frosting them with creme cheese, but I just can’t imagine cream cheese being all too healthy for pets. For the adults, we found a mocktail recipe for a delicious drink, appropriately name the Pom Pom! How wonderful….This is the beginning of our evening celebration:
Mommy and a VERY interested Birthday Girl with the goodies.
The sneaky Birthday Girl managed to get a cupcake in her mouth.
Casper, Beau, and Athena got to enjoy the goodies too…here’s Casper and Pom looking up at Dustin holding a cupcake.
Daddy tasted the goods…and approved it for inclusion in the next spaghetti dinner!
