Dog of the Day: Tony from Arizona Humane Society!

This is one dog who loves to play fetch and is searching for a human pal with a good throwing arm!

Tony may be middle-age at the age of five, but this ambitious and spirited American Bulldog lives for adventure!

Tony is a bundle of energy and he is always on the go. An active pal is needed to keep this bouncy bulldog busy. Tony would appreciate a spacious yard where he can reach top speeds while he plays his favorite game… FETCH! This enthusiastic pooch is a retriever at heart, and he could spend hours chasing a ball across the yard. His stubborn bulldog traits are revealed at times, and he isn’t always anxious to give up the tennis ball after he retrieves it.

He would much rather prance around in the grass for a few minutes while proudly displaying the bright green ball that he just retrieved. Most of the time he makes his human companion wait until he catches his breath and he is good and ready to chase the tennis ball again.

Tony also likes to dip his paws in a doggie play pool that is filled to the edge with cool water to splash in. This hefty pooch isn’t a good swimmer in deep water, but he would appreciate a shallow play pool to cool off in on a warm day.

When Tony is tuckered out, he likes to sprawl out on the couch with his human companion and watch television for the rest of the evening. His future family should be aware that this affectionate doggie, if given the chance, will give sloppy kisses with that giant bulldog tongue to show his human friends just how much he adores them.

Tony needs a home where he will receive firm leadership from a patient pal who is dedicated to training. Being a big lover, Tony demands lots of attention, and he craves one on one time with his human friends. He can be a “bully” around other dogs, and he tends to get very excited when he meets other canines so a dog introduction is required. He may be too rowdy for small children, but Tony would love to live in a home with adolescent kids, and a child introduction is required. Tony thinks that “dogs rule,” and he doesn’t appreciate the company of felines so he can’t go to a home where cats reside.

You can adopt Tony NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee is just $35 because he is a Prime Time dog. This fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccinations, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a free follow-up veterinary examination.
