Despite strong opposition from residents and city officials, a proposal for a fancy dog hotel in South Boston received a favorable vote from the Board of Zoning Appeals.
The kennel plan is billed as an upscale boarding facility and weekend “day care” stop for the discriminating pet.
Called Fenway Bark, the uber-ammenities would include massages, acupuncture and hydrotherapy, and offer one-stop shopping for grooming, supplies, and training for about 100 dogs.
Residents complained that the proposed kennel would be too close to their backyards and expressed worry that the kennel would create noise, odor, and traffic.
One more vote is needed by the zoning board for the project to go ahead.
