Presidential Pooches

I was reading an article on the Boston Herald’s Web site today the role of dogs throughout the history of the U.S. presidency. It’s pretty amazing how much of an impact dogs have had in helping project a certain image for a present or presidential candidate.Apparently, current presidential candidate John McCain has four dogs (I wasn’t able to find what kinds of dogs he has–anybody know?), but Barack Obama currently doesn’t have a dog. However, he said he’s promised to get his two daughters a dog whether he’s elected to office or not.

Remember Mitt Romney? He was running for president earlier this year–his campaign was pretty much kaput after he told some ridiculous story about strapping the family dog to the roof of a car. To do something like that is one thing, but to actually TELL people about it? Safe to say Romney was just slightly out of touch with the public.
