Pet stores featuring “green” products are becoming increasingly popular. Some of the Earth-friendly items these stores carry include hemp collars, pet beds made out of recycled materials, and homeopathic medicines for pet illnesses.

The Noble Beast Pet Store, which recently opened in Arizona, specializes in wellness foods that are made up of human-grade ingredients. These foods are free of the preservatives, dyes and chemicals found in the food of many popular brands.
Portland-based Green Dog Pet Supply sells items made out of everything from recycled soda bottles to metal cut from the hood of cars.

K9 Commentary:
I’ve been dabbling in the world of eco-friendly pet products lately, and it’s nice to see how much easier it’s getting to find dog products made of recycled materials. I’m hoping the cost of some of these items will come down as they become even more popular–Cindy and I once bought a rubber dog bone chew dog made from recycled materials for $12. The non-recycled chew toys are already pretty pricey, so I’m thinking the “green” concept for dogs might not catch on in the mainstream until prices do drop.

As people continue to embrace eco-friendly elements into their life, other, furrier members of the household will be able to do their part to help the environment as well.
