One of the side effects of being a career student is the overuse of my hand, either by writing or typing a lot. This overuse has given me Dequervain’s tenosynovitis (kind of like tendonitis, in the tendons that control the movement of my thumb).
So now, I have to keep a humungo black brace/splint on to ensure there’s no movement…no movement at all.
What does this have to do with my little doggies, you may ask? Well, I was playing with Casper the other day, throwing a toy for him to fetch, when I realized he wasn’t chasing after the toy. At first I just thought he was having one of his less “bright†moments (NOT that he’s dumb!), before I realized that he thought the toy I was using was the big black brace on my hand! He just kept looking at it and trying to get it in his mouth, and eventually I had to take the brace off so that he wouldn’t be distracted by it.
So while I may not have a cool story for why my hand is in a brace, at least I can get some use out of it as Casper’s new chew toy.
