Dog Of The Day: Scarlet From Arizona Humane Society!

It has been a long time since Scarlet has had a place to call home or a family to love her. The German shepherd mix was once roaming the streets of Yuma looking for the family she had lost. Eventually, she was picked up by a Good Samaritan who had no intentions of sharing their life with a dog and called the local animal shelter to pick her up. Scarlet went unnoticed and overlooked for months and eventually her time ran out. Thankfully, she was given a second chance through the Arizona Humane Society’s Reach Out Program.

At the age of three, Scarlet appreciates nap time as much as she does play time. With her athletic and lean build, she is happy to trot alongside her owner on a morning hike, jog or stroll. She likes playing with stuffed toys that squeak in addition to chewing on bones. When the evening rolls around, her couch potato qualities appear and she likes to snooze at her owner’s feet while they watch television. Loving, gregarious and outgoing, she will greet every dog lover with a swift tail wag, a doggie smile and if given the opportunity she will crawl right into their lap in effort to be in “smooching range” and share sloppy kisses. Posing in a “play bow” she invites dogs to romp in the yard for a game of tag but a dog introduction is required. Scarlet can be shy around tumbling toddler and would do best in a home with older children. She is very smart but may need a little help remembering all the basic commands since she has been homeless for so long.

You can adopt Scarlet NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Sunnyslope Facility, 9226 N 13th avenue in Phoenix. Her adoption fee is $110. This fee includes her spay surgery, vaccines, an AHS I.D. tag, a colorful leash and collar and a follow-up veterinary exam.
