Dog of The Day: Strider From Arizona Humane Society!

Strider was left in the backyard without food or water for weeks until a neighbor called the Arizona Humane Society’s EAMTs to investigate. The EAMT soon discovered that this 4-Year-Old Doberman pinscher mix had been abandoned by his previous family when they foreclosed on their home. Although he was deserted by those he loved most, the EAMT couldn’t let this sweet boy starve to death so Strider was taken to our shelter.

This large dog was skin and bones weighing only 60-pounds when he first arrived, but with a consistent and healthy diet he now weights 70-pounds. Not only has Strider received good food at AHS but he has also received tons of attention from loving volunteers as well as a chance to search for a loving family to spend the rest of his life with.

Sadly, this handsome, outgoing, and playful doggie has become spent over a month waiting for someone to notice him, and although Strider enjoys his daily walk on the trails near our shelter and galloping around the play yard with other rowdy canines what he would really enjoy is a home.

He has been house trained and he knows the “sit” command, but he will need some help learning the other basic commands. Strider is always excited to meet other dogs, but he may be too boisterous for some so a dog introduction is required.

He is available NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion located at 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee is only $35. This fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccines, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag and a follow-up veterinary exam. For more information about Strider, please call (602) 997-7586 ext. 1045 and ask for animal ID number A296280 or log on to www.azhumane.org.

Please note: This pet might have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter; however, the AHS has many more wonderful pets that also need loving homes. Please take a moment to meet some of the other homeless dogs, cats and other companion animals at the shelter! To see all our adoptable animals right now, www.azhumane.org/findapet
