Ban On Sale of Dogs in Pet Shops?

petshopIn an effort to cut down on puppy mills, some members of the West Hollywood City Council felt that the best solution to the problem is to ban the sale of dogs entirely.

The idea for the new law came from an investigation of a West Hollywood pet store, Elite Animals, which found that the store allegedly sold puppy mill dogs.

One hoped benefit to such a law would be that it would encourage folks to adopt doggies and kitties from shelters.

This week the council voted on the measure and the ban was passed.
