Dog of The Day: Sheila From Arizona Humane Society!

SheilaSheila had anticipated a quick stroll to explore the neighborhood, but unexpectedly her short adventure turned out to be a long and horrific incident which could’ve taken her life.

While struggling to survive on the dangerous streets, Sheila was hit by a car and barely escaped death. She was in “ruff” shape when she was found curled up in the bushes along the street by one of our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™.

Suffering from multiple injuries, Sheila was barely hanging on, but thankfully she made it to our Second Chance Animal Hospitalâ„¢ just in time.

After her wounds were cleaned and bandaged up, Sheila was sent to a foster home where she could rest and relax. After a few weeks of recuperating, this young one-year-old was ready to embrace the world once again and begin the search for a new family to share her life with. This fun-loving Pit bull terrier mix hopes to find a dog lover that will include a spirited canine in all areas of their life and include her in all the family fun. She enjoys tagging along on camping trips, hikes, long walks in the park, car rides and any fun family event.

Sheila is a well-mannered house dog who knows the basic commands and she is also housetrained. She is nervous around small children, but she would enjoy a family with older kids to play ball with. She can be finicky about her canine friends so a dog introduction is required, although she would prefer to be the only pet in her new home. Her adoption fee is only $110. This fee includes her spay surgery, vaccines, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a follow-up veterinary exam. For more information about Sheila, please call (602) 997-7586 ext. 1045 and ask for animal ID number A282921.

Please note: Sheila may have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter; however, the AHS has many more wonderful pets who are also searching for forever homes. Visit our website at adopt.azhumane.org to view all the other homeless dogs, cats and critters at our shelter. You can also support homeless pets with an end of the year tax-deductible donation at www.azhumane.org or shop for holiday gifts at the Arizona Humane Society’s retail and adoption center-Petique located at the Biltmore Fashion Park.
