If you’re looking for a particular breed of dog, it’s important to do some research and find a reputable dog breeder in order to ensure you’re getting a healthy dog with a good temperament. Keep these things in mind when looking for a breeder:

1: The breeder should only have one or two different types of breeds

2: Dogs should be in a clean, well-maintained area

3: Vet records for the puppies should be provided

4: Offers to provide information for caring and training the puppy

5: Encourages multiple visits and encourages the whole family to meet the puppy before adopting

6: The breeder should also ask for some things from you:

7: Makes sure you understand the responsibilities of having a dog.

8: If you rent an apartment/house, proof from your landlord that you are allowed to have a dog.

9: Good breeders should allow you to return the dog if you are unable to care for the dog at ANY point in the dog’s life.

10: Avoid “backyard breeders.” These people sell puppies to make money. Often backyard breeders will advertise in newspapers or bulletin boards that they have puppies for sale.

 A couple more tips:

–Avoid breeders who keep dogs in a kennel. Often, these dogs suffer from behavioral problems from a lack of human interaction. There is also an increased risk of health problems due to unsanitary conditions that may exist in the kennel.

–Where to find a good dog breeder: Ask for referrals from a veterinarian, dog show, or contact local breed clubs
