Generally, I’ve never been a huge fan of wet/soft/canned dog food–mainly because soft food usually leads to soft, extra-stinky poop that’s not exactly easy to pick up.

However, I recently discovered that the Dogswell company–maker of a slew of uber natural, healthy pet treats–also produces dog food. Just like the treats, their food doesn’t contain any byproducts, hormones, or gluten.

We picked up a couple of cans of their wet food (they also do kibble) to mix in with their usual diet of Solid Gold kibble. Obviously, the dogs loved the taste…I don’t know of too many dogs who don’t go crazy over the smell and taste of just about any wet food.

Something else that always bothers me about soft food is that it usually looks like this weird glob of greyish-brown mystery crappola. Dogswell wet food–we tried both the chicken & sweet potato stew and lamb & sweet potato stew–actually LOOKS like stew.

Aesthetics aside, I highly recommend this food, especially to anyone who’s on the fence about the soft stuff.

Pros: No artificial junk. Two different formulas: Happy Hips (Helps maintain healthy joints) and Vitality (Helps maintain eyes, skin and coat).

Cons: As with most premium foods, it’s a bit spendy at a little over two bucks for a 12.5 ounce can)
