The governor of Oregon recently declared this week Be Kind to Animals Week–we figured it’d be a good idea and let the rest of the country in on this, too. Here are some things to can do to give some extra love to all the furry ones–this week and every week to come:

–Keep visible ID on your pet at all times

–Encourage friends and family to spay/neuter their pets

–Spoil your pet with a new toy or treat

–Report animal abuse or neglect. You can typically do so by calling your local humane society.

–Volunteer at a local shelter

–Give your pooch a nice, long belly rub. It’s easy, free and your dog will be in heaven.

–Invite educators from your local humane society to visit your child’s school

–Donate high-quality pet food to a local shelter

–Get your pet microchipped

–Adopt your next pet from a shelter
