Dog of the Day: Sparky from Arizona Humane Society!

Big dogs like Sparky are obviously not allowed in apartments so his family brought him to the Arizona Humane Society to find a new home. Although Sparky is homeless, he doesn’t let it get the best of him.

He continues to have a happy-go-lucky outlook on life and he is enthusiastic about finding a new forever friend. As he approaches the age of three, this handsome Labrador mix lives life to the fullest, and he is always ready for a fun adventure.

Sparky is best described as a big goof ball. He is a bit clumsy, and it is hilarious to watch this energetic pooch gallop around the yard awkwardly. On the other hand, when he is playing fetch he is a bit more serious, and like a great athlete he will race across the yard to chase the tennis ball.

His comical personality will bring a smile to everyone’s face. He is a big lover who will greet everyone with a rapid tail wag and plenty of sloppy kisses. Although he is a large dog, he never misses a chance to crawl into someone’s lap, and if there is room on the couch you can bet that Sparky will join you for some television in the evening.

Sparky is already housetrained, and he is a perfect gentleman in the house. He is very well-behaved indoors, but when he is allowed outside to play he is very rambunctious. He will need a large and secure yard to romp around in, and plenty of exercise to keep him content.

Sparky is a boundless pup, and he would love to find a home with children who are at least 12-years-old that will devote a few hours each day to play with him. He may be to rowdy for small children.

He is very excited to meet other dogs, but he may be “too much dog” for some canines so a dog introduction is required to ensure that your dog feels comfortable around Sparky. He hasn’t discovered felines yet, and he will need a slow introduction to cats.

You can adopt Sparky NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee is just $35 because he is a member of our Lonely Hearts club. This fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccinations, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a free follow-up veterinary examination.

For more information about Sparky, please call (602) 997-7586 Ext. 1045 and ask for animal ID number A240985 or log on to www.azhumane.org.

Please note: This pet might have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter; however, the AHS has dozens more wonderful pets that also need loving homes. Please take a moment to meet some of the other dogs, cats and other companion animals at the shelter! To see all our adoptable animals right now, www.azhumane.org/findapet.
