Dog of the Day: Duncan from Arizona Humane Society!

Life hasn’t been easy for poor Duncan. He was rescued off of the streets by an EAMT and he was covered with dog bite wounds. He was patched up in our Second Chance Animal Hospital and surprisingly, this tan and white pit bull terrier holds no grudges against other dogs. He still likes most of the dogs he meets.

He is only two years old, but he is gentle spirited, mellow and a HUGE lover. Some may say that if you want a lap dog you need a small dog, but that isn’t the case with Duncan.

This 75 pound pooch will gladly crawl up on your lap and cover your face with sloppy doggie kisses. He enjoys spending as much time as possible with people, and he is always eager to meet new dog lovers. He greets everyone with a rapid tail wag and an ear to ear grin.

Duncan has an athletic build and this agile dog loves to romp and play. He will need a spacious yard to race around in and he enjoys galloping in the grass with a rope toy swinging from his mouth. He LOVES toys, and when he is digging through the basket of toys, more than likely he will pick a stuffed toy that squeaks or a Kong toy.

An energetic human pal is needed to keep this “sporty” dog content and busy. He loves to go for long walks, short hikes, and steady jogs. Daily exercise is important to keep Duncan happy and out of mischief.

Duncan is extremely affectionate around people and he needs a home where he will become the center of attention. Although he seems to get along with a few of the dogs at the shelter, a dog introduction is required to make sure your dog and Duncan are a perfect match. He hasn’t been around children or cats so introduce him slowly. In time he may be able to adjust to a boisterous household.

You can adopt this darling dog named Duncan NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee is just $100. This fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccinations, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a free follow-up veterinary examination.
