Dog of the Day: April from Arizona Humane Society!

April has had a rough start in life, and she is searching for a human pal who will shower her with affection and unconditional love. This people-oriented pit bull terrier mix is only one-year old, and came to our shelter as a young mother of two.

April was found on the dangerous streets with her two puppies. Although she was nervous at first, she displayed her trust by allowing a Good Samaritan to take her and her puppies to a safe place. Her puppies were both adopted, but April is still looking for her chance to be someone’s faithful friend.

Her bright and cheerful personality is a reflection of her enormous heart. If you are looking for a cuddle-bug then April is your girl. This 40 pound pooch will eagerly climb into your lap or relax with you on the couch.

She is content as long as she is near her loved ones. She is very well-mannered, and she has a wonderful disposition. She is always eager to plop down and receive a belly rub, and she would love a soft cozy dog bed of her own to sprawl out and nap on.

Daily walks and playtime in the yard is essential to keep this fun-loving canine happy and content. She will wiggle from head to tail when you pull out the leash to take her for a walk. She also loves to go for short hikes, and she would be an excellent jogging partner.

April already knows the basic commands, and she is house-trained. She has proven herself to be a great house dog, and she would be happiest if she was kept indoors where she could participate in all the family activities.

April is a gregarious dog who loves to meet new dog lovers. The Arizona Humane Society will require that you bring the whole family down, including your doggie, to meet April to ensure that she blends into your “pack.” April is outgoing with other canines, but some dogs can be fussy about their four-legged friends. April hasn’t been around kitties so introduce her slowly.

You can adopt April NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. Her adoption fee is just $100. This fee includes her spay surgery, vaccinations, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a free follow-up veterinary examination.
