Los Angeles County to Impose Tougher Restrictions on Puppy Mills

In response to a rapid boom seen in the number of puppy mills in the area, officials in LA County called on various departments within the county to draft proposals for changes that would improve the quality of care for dogs, as well as responsible breeding.

Officials acknowledge that the large amount of animals creates a much larger burden on local animal shelters, which in turn creates a burden for taxpayers in the county.

In the last six months, hundreds of dogs have been seized from puppy mills in the Los Angeles area and relocated to animal shelters.
