Spring Break can’t come soon enough for the daughters of President Obama–that’s when they’ve been told they’ll be able to finally get their dog, which will (thankfully) put an end to the months of debate and discussion over when and what kind of pooch would be owning the biggest bark in the country.

The Obama family has decided to look for a Portuguese Water Dog, which is a breed known for being a good family dog (Senator Ted Kennedy also two Water Dogs that he often raves about), as well as allergy friendly, which is a big plus for Malia Obama’s dog allergies.

Another little piece of info about what the Obama family is looking for in a dog that shows they’ve done their homework: They’ll be looking for a rescue Water Dog that is old enough (ie: not a puppy) and a match for the family’s lifestyle.
