Ten different breeds of small dogs–75 dogs in all–were dropped off at the Frederick County Animal Shelter in Maryland.
The dogs were brought into the shelter by a man who says a friend asked him to look after the dogs–the man says that the large number of dogs began to overwhelm him, and when he attempted to contact his friend, he had disappeared.
Half of the dogs have been placed in foster care. They are all reported to be friendly and in reasonably good health.
Local authorities are attempting to find the owner of the dogs, and will decide whether to file any charges.
