Dog of the Day: Kadence from Arizona Humane Society!

With one ear up and one ear folded down, it’s obvious that Kadence, a German shepherd mix, doesn’t take life too seriously. The goofy doggie smile that she wears proves that she has a sense of humor at the age of four. All she needs is a fun-loving human to call her best friend.

Kadence lives life with great enthusiasm, and she has her own agenda that doesn’t allow much time to relax. An athletic person with an active lifestyle is needed to keep this spontaneous dog content. Kadence feels that there is no better way to start off the day than to go for a power walk.

She will encourage you to get out of bed each morning by covering your face with sloppy kisses and wagging her tail eagerly. Her long stride and brisk pace will impress any power walker. Kadence is also an excellent hiking pal. She will effortlessly climb to the top of a mountain without even stopping. In the evenings she likes to romp in the yard, and this big dog will need a spacious and secure yard where she can play.

Kadence, like almost all shepherds, is incredibly smart. She has already mastered the basic commands and she knows “sit,” “down” and “shake” like the back of her paw. She is always eager to impress her loved ones, and additional training will come with ease. Kadence needs a human pal that can keep her mind busy by providing her with challenging toys such as Kong toys filled with treats. She would also excel in agility training or advanced obedience training.

Kadence thinks she is “top dog” when she meets other canines, and she can be fussy about her canine friends so we will require a dog introduction to ensure that you pooch and Kadence get along okay. She hasn’t met any felines whisker to whisker yet so introduce her very slowly. She is a boisterous and boundless dog that might be too rowdy to be around tumbling toddlers. She would love to have a few older children to play with though.

You can adopt Kadence NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. Her adoption fee is just $100. This fee includes her spay surgery, vaccinations, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a free follow-up veterinary examination.
