The Earl of Wessex is in hot water after witnesses say he swung a stick at two of his hunting dogs while out in a field shooting pheasant.
According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Prince Edward was only trying to break up a fight between the two dogs.
Photographs show the prince with a large stick raised up directly over one of the black labradors, but none of them show the stick making contact with either dog.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is considering launching an investigation of the incident.
