Thoughts on Pet Insurance

This is the definition of a bad week: We notice one of our cats (Athena) is sick, we take her to the vet, we find out she is VERY sick and will need tests and multiple overnight hospital stays for treatment.

Then we get the bill…roughly $2,000.

My friends, THAT is officially a bad week.

We’re confident Athena will pull through and we’ll do everything necessary to make sure that happens when she (hopefully) comes home on Friday.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to sit here and say to myself over and over, as I have been all week, “I REALLY wish we had pet insurance.”

I can tell you one thing–as of next week, every single pet we have will be on an insurance plan.

I’ve realized that things can happen to our pets at any time, no matter how young they are. Athena isn’t even two years old, and look what happened to her.

I looked up insurance online, and it would cost about 12 bucks a month to cover Athena.

Considering we’re out a couple grand, 12 bucks a month sounds like a piece of cake.

To all pet lovers out there: Look into pet insurance. Don’t wait until the unexpected happens and you find yourself face-to-face with a $2,000 vet bill.
