Somehow Pom Pom developed a skin infection. In the midst of everything else happening to her (oh, you know, just touch of pneumonia here, a flavoring of incontinence there), this infection was missed. Despite our constant monitoring and giving her treats to lick on all day long, Pom Pom has managed to lick her arm raw and created a nasty saliva-induced rash. So it was to my dismay when Dustin suggested we get Pom her very own cone to prevent the licking.

Now I must have underestimated the comfort of a cone, because Pom Pom has been a champ with wearing her little cone around the house. She doesn’t fight when we put it on, she walks around with little difficulty, and she even figured out how to keep eating, chewing, and drinking with the cone. But it was the moment when she first put her head down and passed out on the couch with the cone on that I literally just melted….. It was this moment that officially confirmed Pom Pom as the best dog in the world!
