This Saturday, we celebrated Pom Pom’s guesstimated 14th birthday and 7 years of Pom Pom in our lives.

This occasion called for some serious reflection.  Personally, I kept going back to how this day, 7 years ago, was a life changer for me.  The major themes:

1) From Day 1, Pom Pom has been and continues to be the most awesomest dog in the world.

2) The introduction of Pom Pom in my life made me realize that I am a HUGE animal person, leading to all sorts of consequences such as giving up meat, adopting way too many pets, and signing every possible animal welfare petition known to humankind.

3) Dustin and I are totally prepared for human babies…if you know our approach to pet parenthood, you’d agree 100 percent.

4) I should have become a veterinarian, it would have saved us a lot of money in pet care.
