Burglars Take Air Conditioners From Chicago Animal Shelter
By Dustin
The human race stooped to a new low last week when burglars stole two air conditioning units from the Animal Welfare League in Chicago, leaving 80 dogs to suffer through the sweltering heat and humidity.
Night temperatures in the kennels reached 80 degrees.
Workers who discovered the gutted system Thursday night said temperatures in the kennel areas reached the 80s.
The shelter is currently keeping the high temperatures down with the use of industrial-size fans and a mobile air-conditioning unit, which are on loan until the facility can replace the air conditioning units– it could cost up to $26,000 to bring the air-conditioning system back online and beef up security.

Agreed. I’ll have to scour the web in the next few days to see if there are any updates on this story. Hopefully somebody’s ponied up the dough by now…
