Review: ToothWipes Tooth and Gum Cleanser by Petkin

petkin-toothwipes.jpgBrushing my dogs’ teeth can be such a pain. So when my mom said she uses ToothWipes for her pets, I paid extra close attention to see if they worked.

The ToothWipes are basically mint-flavored wet naps infused with baking soda and other plaque/gum disease-fighting ingredients. The instructions are simple: take a wipe and clean each tooth with your index finger until your dog’s entire mouth is sparkly clean.

Well, according to the reaction of my mom’s dog Yoshi, the mint flavor is NOT the most desired taste out there for dogs. Or maybe it’s the strange feel of a wet nap on his gums he doesn’t like. Or maybe it’s a combo of the above. Whatever it was, Yoshi shook his head around and couldn’t wait to get to get the wipe out of his mouth. And I don’t think my mom was really able to clean each individual tooth as well –or as easily — as intended.

The effectiveness of ToothWipes at fighting plaque and gum disease is undetermined, but from the looks of it, mint may not be a dog’s favorite toothpaste flavor.

Looks like sharing that mint toothpaste flavor with my doggies may not be the best idea for canine dental care!
