Portion size:
Small dogs: 3/4 cup
Medium dogs: 1 1/2 cup
Large dogs, more active dogs: 3 cups
Prep time: 30 minutes
Makes 9, 1 cup servings
3 lbs. skinnless turkey pieces, light & dark, cooked through
(avoid fried or overly seasoned)
1 cup (6 oz.) oatmeal
1 lb. sweet potato, cubed
2 tblspn cranberry sauce
4 tblspn turkey gravy*
*omit the gravy if fat content is a problem. We used olive oil in ours!
1. Remove all bones from your turkey, & cut into pieces acceptable for your dog’s bite size.
2. If using fresh sweet potatoes, bake in the oven about 25 minutes or so, in 375. Allow to cool, peel & dice.
(I left the skins on! They’re good for ya, I say.)
3. Cook your oatmeal according to the directions.
4. Mix everything together, with your gravy drizzled over the top (if used.)
We have enough left over for our dogs to have some tomorrow, too!
They finished this before we had even sat down to our own dinner. A success!
Thanks to Bark! magazine for the original recipe.
