Canadian Province Outlaws Dog Cosmetic Surgery

The New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association recently announced that their vets will no longer crop ears, dock tails or remove dew claws on dogs for cosmetic purposes.

The veterinarians say they do not want to put dogs through such painful procedures simply for aesthetics, such as presentation at dog shows (in the case of dew claw removal).

However, New Brunswick vets will still perform these procedures if needed for health reasons.
